FAQ
Questions we are often asked
What makes the Clean Room version different?
The body is stainless steel 1.4408 (CF8M), electropolished instead of painted, so there is no paint to chip in the room. The PFA-lined wetted path, certificates and sizes are the same as the standard Spheron9. On request: FDA declaration for the PFA wetted parts and USP Class VI documentation.
Which operation should I choose?
Lever for manual isolation; lever + lock where the valve must not be operated by mistake; handwheel for larger sizes. Electric or pneumatic actuators (with positioner or limit switches) for automated duty. Choose “Bridge for actuator mounting” if you fit your own actuator — mounting to EN ISO 5211.
PFA or PFA/AS lining?
PFA is the standard lining. PFA/AS is the conductive version for media where electrostatic charge must be led off. FEP, PFA/UP, PVDF and UHMW-PE are available on request.
Can the Spheron9 throttle?
It is an on/off valve. A V-control ball is available on request with a longer lead time; for regulation use the Imperium9 control valve.
Which documents come with each valve?
Every valve is tested to DIN EN 12266-1 and ships with EN 10204 3.1 material certificates. The Spheron9 is certified under PED 2014/68/EU Module A2 (CE marking from DN 25 / 1") and type-tested to TA-Luft leakage class BH (DN 10 – 150).
PFA or PTFE lining — what is the difference?
Both are fully fluorinated plastics with almost universal chemical resistance. PTFE cannot be melted, so PTFE liners are pressed and sintered. PFA can be melted, so we transfer-mould it into the valve body: the lining is dense, anchored in the body and follows complex shapes. If your specification says "PTFE-lined", a PFA-lined valve meets the same chemical duty — ask us for a comparison for your medium.
